Congratulations Ousmane!
We are pleased to congratulate Ousmane Thiam, who was awarded a scholarship from the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) for the 2025–2026 academic year.
Ousmane comes from University Cheikh Anta Diop, in Senegal, and as part of this programme, he carried out a research mobility at Ca’ Foscari University of Venice, joining our research group and contributing to ongoing activities in the field of environmental photocatalysis.

His research focused on the development of titania-based photocatalytic materials prepared through green synthesis approach, with the aim of exploring sustainable materials for the photocatalytic degradation of organic pollutants.
During his stay, Ousmane had the opportunity to gain further experience in the synthesis and characterization of nanostructured materials and in their application to solar-driven photocatalytic processes for environmental remediation. His work contributed to strengthening the scientific collaboration between our research group and our international partners.
Following the successful completion of his mobility programme, Ousmane was received in Dakar by H.E. Mr. Michele Tommasi, Ambassador of Italy to Senegal, marking an important moment in recognition of his academic experience in Italy and the value of international scientific mobility.
We are particularly pleased that this experience will continue: Ousmane will return to our research group for another year, further developing his research activities in sustainable photocatalytic materials and contributing to our ongoing work in the field of wastewater treatment.
Congratulations Ousmane on this achievement!
