Congratulations Beatrice!

We are happy to announce that Beatrice Polido, a PhD student in our group, has been awarded the prestigious E-MRS Young Researcher Award.

The award was presented during the 2026 E-MRS Fall Meeting & Exhibition, held from 14 to 17 September 2026 at the Warsaw University of Technology in Warsaw, Poland. Organized by the European Materials Research Society (E-MRS), the Fall Meeting represents an international forum for researchers working across different areas of materials science, bringing together scientists and engineers to discuss the latest advances in both fundamental research and technological applications.

The E-MRS Young Researcher Awards are intended to recognize and encourage graduate students for their academic achievements and contributions to materials research, making this recognition an important milestone in the scientific career of young researchers.

The award-winning work, entitled “Tuning defects and morphology in TiO2 for enhanced photocatalysis”, focuses on the synergic effect of morphology and doping engineering on the photocatalytic activity of titanium dioxide under solar light.

In this study, Beatrice investigated Ce-doped titania nanoflowers for the degradation of metronidazole in wastewater under simulated solar light.

Receiving the E-MRS Young Researcher Award represents an important recognition of Beatrice’s research achievements and of the scientific relevance of the work presented at the conference.

Congratulations Beatrice on this achievement!
